ST2403.101: McQueen Road Corridor Study: Warner Road to Pecos Road

The City of Chandler has contracted with Kimley-Horn to conduct a preliminary design study of the McQueen Road corridor from Warner to Pecos roads. The goal of the study is to provide alternatives and recommendations to improve McQueen Road to the city’s major arterial standard, with three travel lanes in each direction. Intersection capacity will also be evaluated via a traffic study, and design alternatives for the major intersections within the project limits will be developed.

The design study and project assessment will determine the optimal centerline alignment to minimize land acquisition requirements, and will assess opportunities for bike lanes, sidewalks, curb and gutter, streetlights, traffic signals, landscape, utility relocations, and other infrastructure improvements. Additional project scope of work consists of data collection, utility coordination, right-of-way delineation, traffic analysis, alternatives analysis, preliminary roadway design, and cost estimating.

The design study and project assessment report are anticipated to be completed in summer 2025.

Outcomes of the corridor study will set the basis for the McQueen Road Improvements Project, which consists of widening McQueen Road from four through lanes to six through lanes between Warner and Pecos roads, as detailed in the 2019 Transportation Master Plan. The project is planned to be completed in three one-mile phases in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) starting at the north side.
