CHANDLER, Ariz. — Chandler neighborhood watch groups who hosted a community Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (G.A.I.N.) event last year are encouraged to submit a nomination for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards. Nominations are now open through Friday, July 26, and may be completed online at Chandler Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards

The annual awards recognize Chandler neighborhoods for their participation in G.A.I.N. and those neighborhood leaders who continuously work to improve their community and inspire others to be more active and involved. Prizes for the winners will be applied towards this fall’s G.A.I.N. events.

There are two award categories available: Mayor’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award. Mayor Hartke will select the winner for the Mayor’s Choice Award. Online voting for the People’s Choice Award will start Monday, July 29, and will continue through 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Chandler Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards.

The winners will be announced during the G.A.I.N. kickoff event from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Chandler Police Main Station community room located at 250 E. Chicago St.
