CHANDLER, Ariz. – Ready, set, blast off! The City of Chandler and Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) invite the public to the annual Chandler Innovation Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. The free one-day, hands-on event will be in Downtown Chandler, 178 E. Commonwealth Ave., between Buffalo and Boston streets along Commonwealth Avenue.

More than 140 exhibitors from CUSD schools and local technology companies will participate in demonstrating the basics of science and the impact it has on your daily life. There will be plenty of hands-on activities as engineers and other working professionals, student makers and innovators showcase new experiments and science concepts.

This year we’re excited to have the 2024 NCAA Men’s Final Four Fan Jam Truck at the Innovation Fair courtesy of SRP. Stop by to show off your game and snap a photo with the national championship trophy!

Event sponsor Northrop Grumman will launch a model/static rocket every 30 minutes and their scientists and engineers will have 30+ interactive activities on display. Northrop Grumman also will have a passport for kids to earn stamps as they complete each activity, including displays and experiments from CUSD.

Intel, Chandler’s largest employer, will host its Equity in STEAM Tent. Intel employee volunteers will coach students and families on how to assemble tiny robots.

ASML, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment, is a new sponsor of the Chandler Innovation Fair. They will be at the event showcasing their work in the semiconductor industry.

During the Chandler Innovation Fair, attendees are encouraged to discover the Makery at the neighboring Downtown Chandler Library during its open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Makery is an interactive space that provides access to various makerspace machinery. During the open house, come explore the 3D printer, Glowforge laser cutter, Makery digital studio, and more. Learn all about the equipment and how you can use it for free with your library card. This is an all-day, drop-in program for all ages.

Free parking for the event is available at The Johnathan parking garage (south of Buffalo Street, east of Arizona Avenue), or The Alexander parking garage (north of Boston Street, east of Arizona Avenue).

The Chandler Innovation Fair is part of the Arizona SciTech Festival, a statewide movement to promote and celebrate science in our daily lives and to earn recognition for Arizona as a science and technology hub. After competing in the Chandler Innovation Fair, many CUSD students go on to compete in the state festival. During the fair, there will be a handful of schools participating in a competition for a $500 prize. These winning schools will be honored during the Chandler City Council meeting this spring.

This year’s event sponsors include Northrop Grumman, Intel, ASML, Edwards, Microchip, NXP, Cirrus Logic, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, SRP, Sundt, WM of Arizona, WozED, and First Things First. Both the city and CUSD are grateful for their support in bringing hands-on science exploration to the community.
