Chandler Flex 100000th ride celebration

CHANDLER, Ariz – In July 2022 the City of Chandler launched Chandler Flex, an on-demand, shared transportation service. In February 2025 the microtransit program surpassed 100,000 rides.

To celebrate, city staff surprised Betty Neal, the 100,000th ride recipient, with balloons and some Chandler swag when she arrived at the Chandler Senior Center on Monday morning. Betty is a regular Chandler Flex rider that appreciates her expanded mobility and the friendliness of drivers, “I love it! They bring me [to the Senior Center]. They’re so sweet.”

Chandler Flex ridership has continued to grow in popularity since its launch — with ridership increasing 35 percent between January 2024 and January 2025.

In a recent survey, riders noted that the convenient and affordable transportation option helps members of all ages to achieve independence, flexibility and a high quality of life. It is especially useful for students who utilize the service to travel to and from before and after school activities.

To book a ride, you can use the mobile app or call 602-932-0291. Once a ride is entered, the system will provide ride options. Riders are then directed to a nearby “virtual bus stop” within a short walking distance, and a driver is dispatched to meet at that location.

A minivan picks you up and takes you where you want to go in a limited service area within Chandler. It is a shared ride service, so other passengers may be picked up and dropped off along the way.

Chandler Flex operates Monday – Friday 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in a portion of south Chandler, roughly south of Chandler Blvd. to Chandler Heights Road, and east of Price Road to McQueen Road.

The goal of Chandler Flex is to use technology to expand access to convenient, affordable, and sustainable transportation for residents and visitors to the City of Chandler.
