Rooting for Greener Futures: Planting Trees in Chandler

Group of elementary school students planting a tree

In June 2023 Chandler was awarded a $767,000 grant provided by the Inflation Reduction Act and the USDA Forest Service, Urban and Community Forestry Program in partnership with the Trust for Public Land. These grant funds will increase the tree canopy and equity in Chandler while providing education to students and the community.

This project comes after Chandler’s first Tree Inventory completed in April 2024. This project identified opportunities for the Park Operations Team to replenish with new trees, and build a strategy to leverage the federal grant.

Chandler’s Urban Forestry division has identified several locations to plant new trees, and they are open to public volunteers. Over the next several months, we are hosting several planting events to replenish Chandler’s urban forest.
