Episode 4 Highlights:

  • Developer Spike Lawrence speaks about the New Square, which includes exciting restaurants like DC Steakhouse, The Stillery, and Jinya Ramen Bar, during Owens’ The Downtown Sound segment. Lawrence explains why he chose Chandler for his latest project.
  • Next up is Chandler’s Got Art with contributor, Peter Bugg. Bugg interviews artist and architect Maria Salenger, who explains her journey from problem-solving to designing art installments in different areas around the metro area. This includes her playful “Sun Slides,” a shade canopy on the east side of the Oregon St. parking structure in Downtown Chandler. She took a creative approach to design this work of public art, inspired by Chandler’s youthful energy and its reputation as a great place for kids.
  • Matthew Salenger, of coLAB Studio (and Maria’s husband), details the process of building a 3D art installment and shade structure, “Our Nature,” for the Chandler Public Safety Training Center. The concept for this artwork was inspired by “human and natural elements” seen in and inspired by their fire and police badges.
