This study stems from public feedback obtained during the 2019 Transportation Master Plan Update. Residents overwhelmingly expressed an interest in bicycling but a concern over the safety of biking adjacent to high-speed traffic without any physical separation. Traffic calming and bicycle improvements along Hunt Highway were recommended in the 2019 Transportation Master Plan.
The study area consists of a three-mile stretch of Hunt Highway from Cooper Road to Val Vista Drive. Three alternatives have been developed for consideration. They include a shared-use path on the north side of Hunt Highway, one-way protected bike lanes on each side of Hunt Highway, and a two-way protected cycle track on one side of Hunt Highway.
