Ashley Trail and Paseo Trail Connection Study

The City of Chandler, in partnership with the Maricopa Association of Governments, is working on creating safer trail connections across major roads in the city. The purpose is to increase the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers.

The Ashley Trail crossing on Cooper Road was identified as a near-term bicycle and pedestrian need in the Chandler Transportation Master Plan 2019 Update. The project will include extending the Ashley Trail eastward to connect with the Chandler Paseo Trail and installing a Signalized Pedestrian Crossing on Cooper Road. This crossing will allow pedestrians to cross Cooper Road safely and access the extended Ashley Trail on the east side of the roadway.

Funding

The City of Chandler 2021-2030 Capital Improvement Program project #6ST752 (Ashley Trail/Paseo Trail Connection) allocated a total of $817,000 to this project.

Schedule

The project is now in the advanced stages of the design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in 2025.
