Frequently asked questions about customer service at the Chandler Municipal Courts.

If you have a criminal case and you fail to appear, it may result in a warrant being issued for your arrest and incurring additional fees. If you have civil charges and fail to appear, your driving privileges may be suspended and you may incur additional fees. You may either file a written motion to continue a court date or come in during the courts' walk-in hours.

Walk-in hours are between 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays.

An abstract is the paperwork the court provides to the Motor Vehicle Department that lifts the request to suspend the driver's license. An abstract is produced when all sanctions/fines/fees are paid in full. Abstracts are valid only from the specific court that requested the hold to be placed on the driver's license. Chandler Municipal Court can only issue an abstract on cases filed in Chandler Municipal Court. You may obtain an abstract from the court to take to MVD for immediate clearance or the court will send an abstract to MVD through our normal course of business.

Since you are the registered owner of the vehicle your name appears on the citation.

If you were not the driver, please provide an enlarged copy of your driver's license and complete the "Identify Driver" form and mail to the Chandler Police Department, the address is located on the "Identify Driver" form.

A motion to dismiss the citation will be filed by the City Prosecutor's office and the Court will dismiss the citation when it is determined that you were not the driver. If it can NOT be determined that you were not the driver and you have not provided information to indicate the driver, the ticket may not be dismissed and you may be responsible for any additional fees incurred if you are served by a process server or your license is suspended.

Be sure to complete the "Waiver of Service of Summons and Complaint" (this is located on the back of the citation) and return within (30) days of date summons was mailed (located on the front of the citation. Failure to sign and return the "Waiver of Service of Summons and Complaint" within (30) days of the date the summons was mailed, you may be served personally by a process server. You will be charged for the cost of the service regardless of the outcome of the complaint.

Please allow at least 10 days from the date the ticket is issued for the officer to file the citation with the court. If you do not have a copy of your ticket with you, the court has no means of knowing what you were charged with. If you have a copy of your ticket, there may be some items we can handle for you that will not require you to come to court again or you can handle by mail.
