Three candidates will interview for the Assistant City Manager position, following a national recruitment that resulted in 200 applications. Interviews will be conducted on Sept. 10 with the following candidates:
Andrew Firestine, assistant city manager for the city of Centennial, Colorado. He has worked at the city of Centennial since 2007 and, in his current role, oversees the community development, economic development and public works departments. Previously, he worked in planning positions for the city of Colorado Springs and at a regional planning agency in Colorado Springs.
Brian Layton, assistant county manager for Navajo County in Arizona. Since 2016, he has overseen five administrative departments at Navajo County, including finance, budget and human resources. He previously worked 10 years at the city of San Antonio, Texas, in positions that directed programs for innovation, budget and process improvement.
Debra Stapleton, administrative services director for the city of Chandler, Arizona. She has served as the human resources director since 1999 and began her current role in 2016 to oversee buildings and facilities, fleet services, human resources and information technology. Previously, she worked at Olin Corporation for 17 years in human resource management positions.
The Assistant City Manager is responsible for overseeing City departments and divisions to ensure the policies and goals of the City Manager and City Council are achieved in a timely, professional manner.
