CHANDLER, Ariz. -The Chandler City Council has approved Chandler Police to purchase four additional handheld drug analyzers funded through a $152,527 grant from the State of Arizona.
The handheld narcotics analyzers, called TruNarc, can identify more than 530 narcotics and dangerous drugs, as well as cutting agents and prescription medication in a single drug test. The devices can scan directly through plastic or glass for most drug test samples to minimize contamination, reduce exposure and preserve evidence.
The purchase of these analyzers will extend the Chandler Police Department's capabilities to identify drugs. These handheld devices reduce overall requests for laboratory drug analysis and provide greater capacity to analyze drugs.
The Chandler Police Department currently utilizes four TruNarc devices in the field and the police laboratory.
