CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler City Council awarded several agreements during its April 10th meeting for a project that will improve water distribution in two neighborhoods.
The Water Main Replacement Project will replace approximately 12,600 linear feet of water mains in two high priority areas in the central part of Chandler: Tyson Manor and Sunset Manor. These neighborhoods are located between Alma School Road and Hartford Street and Chandler Boulevard and Galveston Street.
Chandler’s Water Distribution Division maintains over 36,000 valves and 1,242 miles of pipe in the potable water system. The Water Main Replacement Project is part of an ongoing effort to update and combat aging water infrastructure in Chandler. The city has a Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to replace water mains that are susceptible to breaks due to age and condition. The program evaluates water infrastructure, identifying high-priority water mains in need of replacement. Replacement of city water mains will result in improved system reliability and reduced risk of water damage.
The Chandler City Council approved the series of contracts associated with this project that will facilitate the construction work on water distribution infrastructure in these two neighborhoods.
