CHANDLER, Ariz. – The City of Chandler invites community members to take part in Chandler Listens, a pair of upcoming workshops designed to gather public input on the city’s future growth and development as part of the General Plan Update.
The workshops will be held at the Chandler Downtown Library, 22 S. Delaware St., on the following dates:
- Tuesday, May 14 | 5:30 – 7 p.m.
- Saturday, May 17 | 10:30 a.m. to noon
During these interactive sessions, attendees will learn about the General Plan—Chandler’s long-range policy document that outlines goals and strategies for managing growth, land use, housing, water, transportation, economic development and more.
A highlight of each workshop is a hands-on mapping activity, where participants will engage in a creative, planning-focused exercise using large-scale maps and land use “chips.” These chips represent different uses—such as housing units, employment centers, and other community amenities—and attendees will be invited to design their ideal mixed-use neighborhoods.
The exercise allows the community to visualize the future of Chandler and communicate their preferences for how the city’s growth areas should evolve over the next decade.
“These workshops are an opportunity to hear directly from the people who live, work, and invest in Chandler,” said Chandler’s Principal Planner Lauren Schumann. “By working together, we can ensure our updated General Plan reflects a shared vision for a vibrant and sustainable future.”
Workshops are free and open to the public; no registration is required. Refreshments will be provided.
