CHANDLER, Ariz. – “Ceangal/Connections” will be showcased at the Chandler Museum from March 15-July 20. This collaborative exhibition brings together a diverse group of artists and writers from Chandler and Tullamore, Ireland, reflecting on the unique cultural exchange between the two sister cities. Ceangal (pronounced KANG-ul) means "connections" in Irish.
The exhibition features a range of media, including visual art, photography, writing, and film, with each work exploring the landscapes, landmarks and shared experiences of both communities.
The artists represented are:
• Laurie Fagen, fiber artist, Chandler
• Devon Hancock, filmmaker, Chandler
• Lynne Hartke, writer, Chandler
• Siobhan McCormack, painter, Tullamore
• Paul Moore, photographer, Tullamore
• Geraldine O'Neill, writer, Tullamore
• Evin O'Toole, filmmaker, Tullamore
• Robert Rice, photographer, Chandler
“Ceangal/Connections” not only celebrates the artistic talent from both cities but also deepens the bond between Chandler and Tullamore, which have been sister cities for 15 years. Through this exhibition, the artists explore themes of cultural exchange, shared heritage, and the ways in which art can bridge distances. The exhibit will be a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the beauty and history of both cities through the eyes of talented local artists.
"We're very excited to see the ‘Ceangal/Connections’ art exhibition come full circle at the Chandler Museum, after our premiere at the Esker Arts Center in Tullamore, Ireland last summer,” says Laurie Fagen, who chairs the Chandler Tullamore Sister Cities (CTSC) organization. "The artwork, photography, writing and films provide a look into the similarities and differences between the two cities, and we believe it will pique the interest of all ages into the Chandler-Tullamore Sister Cities organization."
