CHANDLER, Ariz. – Quilting is the perfect medium to create artistic statements. Through high-contrast colors, defined lines and strong graphic qualities, quilters attract the eye and leave an impression with an unforgettable image.

“Art Quilts: IMPACT!” showcases art quilts that have a bold visual impact and message. Fiber artists from across the country and abroad were invited to submit to this annual exhibition of contemporary art quilts, showcasing some of the finest textile art on display in the Southwestern United States. Inspiration for these quilts comes from pop art, comics, mass culture, mid-century-modern design and graphic design.

Wendy Raisanen, exhibition juror, said, “It was an honor to conceive of the exhibition, ‘Art Quilts: IMPACT!’. Jurying the work into the show was like opening gift after gift of bold ideas, color and design. Quilting is an effective and beautiful way to make a powerful statement. These talented artist quilters have produced gorgeous pieces that will leave a lasting impression.”

Visit the gallery for the opening reception, Saturday, Nov. 16 from 3-5 p.m.
