To support major investments by Intel and other employers, Chandler took action to modify infrastructure and sustain our extensive water portfolio. Innovative projects to offer affordable housing, provide transit services and rebuild Chandler’s busiest fire station were launched. Here is a brief recap of significant projects and events in 2022.
Support for Intel Expansion
Chandler worked with Salt River Project (SRP) and Intel to reach agreement on the power and water-related resources necessary to support Intel’s expansion at its Ocotillo campus. The infrastructure improvements qualify for reimbursement under the State’s transaction privilege tax statute.
Chandler has begun the utility relocation work to clear an underground path for the 230 kilovolt electric transmission line, along Alma School and Chandler Heights roads, to support Intel’s Fab 52/62 expansion.
Reclaimed Water Projects
Chandler initiated design and construction on the Reclaimed Water Interconnect Facility and Conveyance projects that will allow the City to recharge the City’s groundwater aquifer. Water from Central Arizona Project will be treated and stored at Chandler’s reclaimed water recharge sites.
These projects also will supply reclaimed water to Intel for their use in cooling towers that support their Fab 52/62 expansion.
