2024 Nominees
Dobson Estates II

Each year we hold this event at my neighbor’s house. I go door to door letting every neighbor know about the BBQ we hold and why we do this. Each year we see a few new faces but for the most part, we have the same neighbors that show up. I love seeing new faces and getting to know the new neighbors. Everyone who joins us, always shares good feedback, they love that we keep this going. I am nominating us for this award, hoping I can share it with the amazing help I get from a couple of people.

One family Ross and Susan always open up their home for us, and then Donna and Steve always bring Tables, paper plates and napkins. Even though we are a small few we pull off a big event for everyone to share food, drinks, and hugs. We are a small community with a huge heart. I am lucky to have such great neighbors, we are all lucky to have each other! We are thankful to our Chandler PD.

Fox Crossing

Fox Crossing is a great community that is involved in the GAIN event every year. Our community is very large and offers an incredible representation of the diversity that makes Chandler a great place to live. We had strong participation in the 2023 GAIN event, and the Fox Crossing HOA coordinated a food truck, bounce house, snacks, drinks, and activities for the community.

Sun Groves

Our neighbors’ response to our 2023 G.A.I.N. event was, as it always is, phenomenal! This was our 19th year celebrating G.A.I.N. and our neighbors look forward to it every single year. We BBQ hot dogs and hamburgers and every household brings a dish to share.

One of our favorite activities is the chili competition. Everyone gets to taste all the delicious home-made chili and vote for the BEST. The winner gets a gift card to the local grocery store! Something important to note is that it's not just our kiddos that get to have so much fun on the bounce house and enjoy cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, etc., but also, the adults. It is such a fun neighborly event.

We love it!

Terraces At Tiburon

We are a community of 106 units. Since starting our Neighborhood Watch Committee and then participating in GAIN, it has brought us closer together. Neighbors actually talk to each other. We planned this in a short amount of time and went with a fall and Halloween-theme games and dessert potluck. We had a neighbor who was a DJ and brought her karaoke, we had outdoor games throughout our greenbelt and the SWAT team was a huge hit. It also gave us an opportunity to thank the City of Chandler for our award of grant money.

We will definitely be participating again.

The Springs

The name of our G.A.I N. Event was The Springs Fall Festival. We began our planning session by having both children and adults serve on the committee. The kids decided to write the Fire and Police Chiefs and invite them to our event. They did this all on their own. At our first meeting the desired outcome of the event was to engage as many neighbors in our event as possible, so the boys decided we needed a bouncy castle because our neighborhood has been changing from an older community to a younger community with more children.

Once the theme of the event was selected, we began creating 12 different fall-type activities for kids and adults to participate in. We also had a BBQ; a popcorn machine and we gave away cupcakes and ice cream. We were so lucky to have the S.W.A.T. Truck and the Robotic Truck at our event and everyone young and old swarmed to it to experience how both vehicles worked.

The turnout was fantastic. It brought our neighborhood together and we know this because of all the positive comments we were all receiving about this being the BEST event the Springs ever had. We knew we had accomplished what we set out to do and the amazing thing was to see the leadership in the 12 year old and the 8 year old that was on the planning committee.

We are very appreciative of the grant that our community received that helped us make this event possible for The Springs.

Tyson Manor

Tyson Manor is a small, unique community that strives to create a sense of well-being and safety. Established neighbors help new neighbors when needed and we all try to look out for each other. Our GAIN event allows us to gather, play games, eat and check in with each other. Bringing the young and not-so-young together, we usually have over 50% of the neighborhood show up to our gain event.

Whipsering Heights

Whispering Heights is a great little community of 142 homes. As in past years, GAIN will be THE big event for our community from 3-7 p.m. Included are the GAIN activities, Halloween costume judging, community cookout, and fun inflatables. The kids have a chance to show off their Halloween costumes and win prizes. We have had a few standalone cookout events in the past and this year we are adding the cookout to our GAIN event. We will have three inflatables, a large slide, a combination bounce house and slide, and a basketball skills inflatable. By including these activities, we draw more families to the main event: the GAIN activities.
