Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Removing household waste from a vehicle

Throwing household chemicals in your trash container, pouring them down the drain, or dumping them at the curb is dangerous and irresponsible. To better serve Chandler residents, the city offers household hazardous waste collection at the city's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility.

Scheduled appointments are required to ensure a safe environment for the public and staff when managing quantities of household hazardous waste dropped off.

Chandler residents paying for City-provided solid waste services or living in apartments, townhomes or multi-family units may use the bring accepted HHW by appointment.

  • Any material brought to this facility must be from the Chandler residence shown on their Chandler utility bill.
  • Residents from that address must drop off the material.  No contractors and/or persons performing work for residents.

Prohibited:

  • Residents living in areas outside Chandler city limits (county islands, Sun Lakes, etc.), businesses (including home-based businesses) or non-profit organizations.

See the Alternative Drop Off Locations section below for options.

Call Solid Waste customer service at 480-782-3510 Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Instructions for proper disposal for cans that are nearly empty or already dry:

Remove the lid and place the can in an area away from children and animals. Using enough cat litter, paint hardener, or Plaster of Paris, stir it in, set it out in the sun, and let it absorb and harden. This can also be done by pouring paint into a cardboard box lined with newspaper, cat litter or absorbent. When the paint in the can or in the cardboard box has hardened and is dry, secure it in a plastic bag. It is ready for disposal. Empty paint cans can be disposed of in your regular trash container.
