The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform administrative and supervisory management work in assisting the Presiding Magistrate in planning, organizing, and directing the administrative functions of Municipal Court. This position is responsible for the development and administration of the department's operational and capital budgets, for all court operations including management of court case flow; management of all court records and automated record keeping; and overall management of the assignment.

Supervises, manages and directs all non-judicial operations and personnel;
Mentors and provides direction to the management team as to the daily operations of the Court;
With presiding judge, sets administrative policies for all divisions of the Court;
Plans and develops long range goals for the Court;
Prepares and administrates the operating and capital budgets of the Court;
Oversees and approves all expenditures by the Court;
Supervises the implementation of the Court management system;
Oversees the Probation Division in the Court to insure continued compliance with court ordered probation;
Serves as internal affairs for the Court, and is responsible for investigating and responding to all complaints;
Develops, prepares and administers all grants and IGA's;
Oversees management of the Court facility;
Oversees security for the Court including the alarm system, metal detectors, etc.;
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures;
Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions. Follows City-wide safety policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the City's Safety Handbook.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for Court when presiding Judge is out of office; fills in as Director when Presiding City Magistrate is out of office.

Computer-based management information systems and related records management methods and procedures;

Court facility management and security.
Supervise, train and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel;
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
Develop long and short range plans;
Manage, administer and coordinate the non-judicial activities and functions of a court system;
Plan for and implement organizational and procedural improvements within a complex system of multiple functions;
Resolve operational and procedural problems;
Maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, attorneys, staff, court personnel, and interested and affected parties;
Respond to citizen requests in a courteous and effective manner;
Make sound and reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and established procedures;
Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines;
Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
The work is performed under the supervision of the Presiding Magistrate.
This position supervises all professional, para-professional and clerical court personnel.
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field; and
Seven (7) to ten (10) progressively responsible administrative experience in a court setting, of a diversified nature including budget preparation and administration, and three (3) years supervisory experience;
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
The primary duties of this class are performed in a court and general office environment.
