CFD supports the community through numerous charitable endeavors

The men and women of the Chandler Fire Department have a long history of involvement with community charities and social service organizations. Our sworn, civilian and volunteer members are committed to giving back to the community and the people they serve. Below you will read about some of the annual events, charitable organizations and special programs supported by Chandler firefighters, both on the job and on their own time.

Annual events include:

  • Santa's Toy Ride
The 2012 toy ride will be held at the Chandler Fashion Center from 2-8 p.m. on Dec. 8. The CFD annual Holiday Toy Drive helps Chandler children from families in need. During the Toy Drive, anyone who donates a new, unwrapped toy at the Mall event will receive a ride in a Chandler fire engine. An adult must accompany all children 6 years of age and younger. The Fire Department also requests that donated toys not be battery operated. This is sure to thrill the kid in you regardless of your actual age. The toy collection point at Chandler Fashion Center is near the valet parking area outside of the food court on the south side of the mall. Fire Department mascots will be at the mall, along with Sprinkler the Clown, and performances by the City of Chandler Holiday Carolers.  Read more ...

In addition, our members regularly volunteer through efforts organized by Chandler Local 493 and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). These include:

  • Muscular Dystrophy Association
The IAFF is the largest national sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and members have pledged to campaign for the worldwide research efforts of MDA to eradicate 40 neuromuscular diseases. The contributions of the fire fighters also go towards MDA’s summer camps for children, professional and public health education, and other programs. The IAFF is the biggest sponsor of MDA’s Labor Day Telethon and members have donated nearly $275 million to MDA since 1954. The IAFF raises millions of dollars each year through the Fill the Boot campaign, in which fire fighters greet shoppers and others and ask them to donate money to MDA.
  • Fill the Boot Campaign for MDA
  • Pool Fence Walk

Chandler Emergency Relief Fund CERF

Chandler Firefighter Charities (formerly CERF) is a nonprofit organization established in 1994 by a group of City firefighters who recognized that our citizens frequently need services beyond fire suppression and emergency medical care. Using their own money and community donations, the firefighters created Chandler Firefighter Charities to enable them to help people in the aftermath of an emergency by providing money for food, clothing, shelter, and other needs. Several years ago, the organization's role was expanded to help firefighters provide fire and life safety education to children and adults. The fund is managed by the Local Board as elected by the members.
