Chandler Fire & Police public safety open house March 2
The Chandler Fire and Police departments are joining together to hold a free public safety open house at both department headquarters on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Members of Chandler’s public safety teams will be out in the community delivering blankets and warm clothing to the homeless as temperatures dip below freezing level (January 2013). Chandler Fire collecting holiday toys for local children
The Chandler Fire Department’s annual Holiday Toy Drive returns this year to Chandler Fashion Center from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, in a community-wide effort to provide thousands of disadvantaged children with a happier holiday. Anyone who donates a new, unwrapped toy at the Mall event will receive a ride in a Chandler fire engine. Chandler Fire will deliver all donated toys to the Chandler CARE Center next to Galveston Elementary School for disadvantaged children who have been identified through the staff at each CUSD elementary school. Drowning Prevention PSA Earns Media Award
The Arizona Parks and Recreation Association (APRA) awarded the Media Award to the City of Chandler for a Drowning Prevention video produced collaboratively between the Aquatics Division, Chandler Fire Department and Chandler Channel 11. The drowning prevention video appealed directly to the public by providing three easy steps to educate parents: Secure, Supervise and Train. Chandler to host 9/11 ceremony, dedicate memorial
A memorial service for the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, will be held on Tuesday, September 11 at CFD headquarters. The 30 minute ceremony will begin at 8:40 a.m. Mayor Jay Tibshraeny, Fire Chief Jeff Clark, and Police Chief Sherry Kiyler will all pay tribute to those affected by the 9/11 attacks. Steel from World Trade Center on display in FD lobby
The Chandler Fire Dept. recently received a section of steel from the ruins of the World Trade Center. The twisted, rusting 417-pound section of I-beam is almost 5 feet long, 2 feet high and 9 inches wide. It was given to the Department by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and it will be used to create a memorial to the events of Sept. 11, 2001, and those who lost their lives that day.
