Process announced to fill vacancy on Chandler City Council

The Chandler City Council has established the process to fill the City Council seat vacated by Vice Mayor Nora Ellen’s resignation. According to the City Charter, the Council has 30 days from the resignation to appoint a replacement. The appointee will serve on the Council through the current term, which expires in January 2021.

Interested candidates must be 18 years of age, a registered voter and a Chandler resident for two years prior to the appointment. To be considered, qualified candidates must submit a completed application, resume and a 300-word (or less) statement to the City Clerk via email at dana.delong@chandleraz.gov, or in person at the City Clerk’s Office, 175 S. Arizona Ave., first floor. 

The application is available here, or in the City Clerk’s Office starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 30. All three items (application, resume and statement) must be submitted before 5 p.m. Friday, June 8. The Council will review candidates’ materials the week of June 11, during an Executive Session. The week of June 25, the Mayor and Council will hold a Special Meeting to interview the candidates. The selected candidate will be sworn in by June 29.
