Chandler Fire Department will host open house at new Fire Station No. 11 on June 2

Chandler Fire Station No. 11Mayor Jay Tibshraeny and the City Council will dedicate Chandler’s new Fire Station No. 11 in a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2. A public open house will follow the ceremony from 9 a.m. to noon. The new Chandler Fire Department (CFD) station, located at 4200 S. Gilbert Road, is 1/4-mile south of Ocotillo Road on the west side of Gilbert Road. Open House parking will be available in the shopping center north of the station.

In addition to tours of the station, there will be fire truck, ambulance and apparatus displays, demonstrations of emergency medical services, drowning prevention information and free blood pressure checks. In the Fire Safety House display, children will get hands-on instruction on how to get out of a smoke-filled environment. Free balloons and fire helmets will be available for children. Throughout the event, CFD staff will be available to talk about the Crisis Response volunteer program, Smoke Alarm program, and Fire Cadet Program. This open house will also feature instruction on Hands-Only CPR.

The Department built the 10,500-square-foot station to address several existing and future service needs. The coverage area of the new location will improve response times along the southeastern edge of the City. Initially, the station will house one engine company with a crew of four; therefore, 12 people will staff the station’s three shifts. Other apparatus may be added to the station as the need arises.

The new station was built by Danson Construction, LLC, for approximately $3.4 million. The site is on land that was already owned by the City and adjacent to the brine evaporation ponds operated by the Public Works & Utilities Department.
