Chandler Mayor hosts second annual Safety and Veterans Expo

This Veterans Day, join Mayor Jay Tibshraeny, Chandler Police, and Chandler Fire, Health and Medical departments, for the second annual Safety and Veterans Expo (S.A.V.E.) at Veterans Oasis Park, 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road. The event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

The S.A.V.E. Expo is a free event for the entire family and the Veterans community. Attendees can learn about personal and property safety, fire and crime prevention methods, how to obtain a city building permit and sign up for services and programs provided by City of Chandler departments. Veterans will be able to receive claims assistance from the Veterans Health Administration and get information from other veterans’ service organizations. Students from local schools will sing a variety of patriotic songs throughout the day and food trucks will have food and beverages available for purchase with discounts for veterans.

During the S.A.V.E. Expo, the Mayor will hold a special ceremony beginning at 11:11 a.m. to honor Operation Welcome Home Chandler honorees. Operation Welcome Home Chandler is an opportunity for Chandler residents to honor and show appreciation for military men and women who are returning from active duty or leaving for service. Nominations are still being accepted. To nominate a veteran, visit chandleraz.gov/patriotism.

The ceremony also will include posting of the colors, Chandler’s Pipe and Drum Corps, remarks from the Mayor and a proclamation for Purple Heart recipients.
