Chandler Museum and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema celebrate history of the Old West through classic Western movies and Trivia Night

Arizona Hipstorian Marshall Shore at Alamo Drafthouse cinema for Trivia Night on Oct. 17The Chandler Museum and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema are celebrating the chuck wagon – the original food truck – during the month of October with three Western movie classics and the return of the popular Trivia Night. The events are open to the public and benefit the Eighth Annual Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off, taking place Nov. 10-11, at the City’s Tumbleweed Ranch.

From 7-9 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 17, join Arizona’s self-proclaimed “Hipstorian” Marshall Shore for Trivia Night, where teams of four to six will demonstrate their knowledge of chuck wagon and wagon trail history. This event is free to attend, but reservations are suggested to save a seat to enjoy the fun. A $5 registration charge will reserve a seat and serve as a credit toward food and beverage purchases that evening.

“Craft beer in one hand, pencil in the other, delicious food in front of you and friends as part of your team … this is going to be one fun evening,” says Craig Paschich, owner and partner of the Chandler Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Also in October, join Alamo and Chandler Museum for three special screenings of classic Western films where chuck wagons are prominently featured. On Thursday, Oct. 5, enjoy the family-friendly film, “City Slickers,” starring Billy Crystal. See Kevin Kline, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner and Scott Glenn travel to the city of “Silverado” on Thursday, Oct. 19. The comedy antics of Jodie Foster, James Garner and Mel Gibson will be on display in “Maverick,” on Thursday, Oct. 26. All movies in the series start at 7 p.m. and tickets are $9.

“We are so excited to partner with Alamo Drafthouse in October,” says Chandler Museum Administrator Jody Crago. “I don’t think there is a better way to get ready for the Chuck Wagon Cook-Off this year!”
