Nominations being accepted for Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards

The Neighborhood Programs Office, in partnership with the Chandler Police Crime Prevention Unit, encourages active block watch groups that participated in last year’s G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) events, to submit a nomination for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards. The awards recognize neighborhoods for their dedication to creating community through events, increasing neighborhood involvement and developing the next generation of leadership.

Nomination forms will be available starting Monday, July 10, on the City’s website, chandleraz.gov/connect. There are two categories available this year: Mayor’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award. Completed nominations may be submitted in person to the City’s Neighborhood Resources Division, 235 S. Arizona Ave., or emailed to neighborhood.programs@chandleraz.gov. Entries must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18.

All nominations will be evaluated and the top finalists in each category will be selected by crime prevention officers, Neighborhood Programs staff and the City’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee. Online voting for the People’s Choice Award will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, and continue through Monday, Sept. 11.

The winners will be announced at the start of the 2017 GAIN kickoff event, which will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Chandler Police Department, community room, 250 E. Chicago St.
