League of Arizona Cities and Towns named “Best Industry Trade & Professional Association” at Best of the Capitol 2017 Event

Chandler Mayor and League President Jay Tibshraeny announced that The League of Arizona Cities and Towns was named “Best Industry Trade & Professional Association” Tuesday night at The Best of the Capitol 2017 event sponsored by the Arizona Capitol Times. The League was chosen by popular vote of the subscribers to the publication.

“I am proud that the League has been singled out for this award,” said Mayor Tibshraeny. “Cities and towns are the level of government closest to the people and most trusted with taxpayer money. It is important that our state legislators get the full and accurate story of local government, and this award will help elevate our profile with state policy makers.”

Chandler’s Intergovernmental Affairs Coordinator Ryan Peters also was nominated in the Best Government Lobbyist category.

“This is outstanding recognition of our elected municipal officials who serve on the League Executive Committee and the outstanding quality and hard work of our professional staff,” said Ken Strobeck, executive director. This is the first time in its history that the League has received this award.

The League represents the interests of the state’s 91 cities and towns at the state legislature, with the Governor’s office and state agencies, as well as providing consulting, support services, education and training activities throughout the year.
