Chandler Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon on Feb. 11 at the Chandler Center for the Arts
 
The athletic accomplishments of six individuals and four teams will be celebrated during the 13th Annual Chandler Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Luncheon to be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at the Chandler Center for the Arts. Special recognition also will be given to Thurman Gilbert and Henry Salinas.
 
“We’re excited for attendees to learn more about this year’s outstanding nominees. Each one has brought extraordinary athletic accomplishments to their sport and community,” says Eddie Wilson, former NFL Quarterback and current Chandler Sports Hall of Fame Committee Chair. 
 
Brett HundleyThe 2016 Chandler Sports Hall of Fame inductees are:
  • Riley Barclay, Arizona State University, Men’s Gymnastics All-American
  • Marlin Broek, Valley Christian High School, Athletic Director and Coach
  • Ryan Evans, University of Wisconsin, professional basketball player
  • Brett Hundley, Quarterback, Green Bay Packers
  • Bryce Lamb, Texas Tech University, NCAA Triple Jump National Champion
  • Lawrence Westbrook, University of Minnesota, professional basketball player
Four school teams will be recognized for their achievements as state champions:
  • 1979 Seton High School Softball team
  • 1982 Chandler High School Girls Basketball team
  • 1983 Seton High School Softball team
  • 1991 Valley Christian High School Boys Track & Field team
The Chandler Sports Hall of Fame, along with the Chandler Museum, celebrates the rich history of Chandler athletics by honoring those teams, athletes, coaches and administrators that have brought statewide and national recognition to the City of Chandler through their exceptional talent.

Tickets for the event, which includes both the induction ceremony and luncheon, are $15 (plus service charge) and available through the Center’s box office, 250 N. Arizona Avenue, and online at chandlermuseum.org.
 
Since 2004, the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame has recognized some of the best athletes, coaches and teams that call Chandler home.

The Chandler Sports Hall of Fame is a nonprofit 501c3 organization with the purpose of honoring the athlete who have brought recognition to the City of Chandler and who have made a significant contribution to Chandler’s athletics community.

Chandler Sports Hall of Fame Selection Process
The selection committee is comprised of former coaches, school administrators, athletes and others with a genuine interest in the history of athletics in Chandler. Hall of Fame candidates can be individuals who or athletic teams that brought recognition to the City of Chandler. This recognition may include national or statewide record-setting performances or contributions to the community and athletics in general.  Candidates can be a member of a high school or professional team, and can be considered for recognition no sooner than five years after their performances. More information can be found at chandlermuseum.org, or by calling 480-782-2717.
