Chandler Tennis Center hosts Fall Classic

The Chandler Tennis Center will host its first major tournament since receiving the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) Featured Facility Award, the USTA’s highest  tennis facility honor.

The Chandler Fall Classic NTRP Open will be held Nov. 18-20 and attracts players from throughout the state. It is a rating based tournament for players 18 years and older. A rating based tournament means players sign up for different events based on their personal skill level.

The deadline to register is Friday, Nov. 11. Players are limited to a maximum of two events and must be members of the USTA to participate. Register online at http://tournaments.usta.com. The cost is $30 per player for Singles events and $20 per player for Doubles events.

"This tournament is one of the better attended USTA National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) events in the Valley,” said Sean Paulson, tournament director. “The cool weather, fierce yet fun competition, beautiful courts, coupled with the 2015 USTA National Facility of the Year make this event one of my favorites."

The facility, located within Tumbleweed Park in southeast Chandler, was built in 1996 and renovated in 2014 when the 15 asphalt courts were replaced with post-tensioned concrete courts.  In addition, tiered concrete seat walls were added to enhance spectator viewing and a large hitting wall was built.
