Makin' Furniture+

Opening Reception: Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, 7-9 p.m.

The Vision Gallery in downtown Chandler presents, "Makin' Furniture," a new and distinctive exhibition of hand-crafted furniture and artworks created by Arizona woodworkers, artists and craftsmen.


Makin' Furniture+ is the sixth exhibition curated by Steven Makin, a fine furniture maker for more than 25 years. This year’s exhibition continues his effort to support and promote original artworks by Arizona woodworkers. The exhibit provides an excellent display of wood-crafted artworks from fine, rare, and exotic woods and will celebrate unique and fine woodworking pieces from the American Southwest. Also included in the exhibit will be photographs by artists from in and around the state to accompany the display of skillfully crafted furniture artworks.

Artists featured in the
Makin' Furniture+ exhibit include Dan Allaire, William Barrand, Lily Baniriah, Dominic Ferrara, David Fleming, Doug Forsha, Andrew Glantz, Gary Goren, Mark Levin, Steven Makin, Damon McIntyre, Kip Merritt, Raul Ramirez, Dale Talley, Kim Thoma, Kerry Vesper, and Terry Woolston. Photographers include: Caitlin Cabral, Carolyn Colwell, Tim Vander Hoek, Doug Forsha, Steven Makin, Ron Mullins, Linda Powers, & Pia Wyer.
 
The exhibit will include an opening artists’ reception on Friday, Sept. 9, from 7-9 p.m. The event is free admission and open to the general public.
