Nominations being accepted for Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards

The Neighborhood Programs Office, in partnership with the Chandler Police Crime Prevention Unit, encourages active neighborhood leaders and block watch groups to submit a nomination for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards. The awards recognize neighborhoods for their dedication to creating community through events, increasing neighborhood involvement and developing the next generation of leadership.

Nomination forms are available online at chandleraz.gov/connect. There are two categories available this year: Mayor’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award.

All nominations will be evaluated and the top finalists in each category will be selected by crime prevention officers, neighborhood programs staff and the City’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee. Online voting for the People’s Choice Award will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, and continue through Wednesday, Sept. 16. Vote now!

The winners will be announced at the start of the 2016 GAIN kickoff event, which will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Chandler Police Department, community room, 250 E. Chicago St.

Completed nominations may be submitted in person to the City’s Neighborhood Resources Division, 235 S. Arizona Ave., or emailed to neighborhood.programs@chandleraz.gov. Entries must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9.
