Art contest winners announced; drawings to appear in public

The winning artwork of 19 students was unveiled April 19 before a crowd of parents and teachers attending the City’s 13th annual Environmental Art Contest developed to promote water conservation, storm drain pollution prevention and recycling.

Students from 27 public, private, and charter schools in Chandler submitted nearly 700 entries illustrating the importance of reducing waste, conserving water, and preventing pollution. Judges selected the winning entries based on creativity, content, colorfulness and Chandler focus. The students received a Certificate of Excellence from Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny and gift bags filled with goodies. Selected drawings are used in a 12-month calendar, posters, billboards for the City’s waste and recycling collection trucks, and other promotions.

The winning drawings are posted on the City’s website, chandleraz.gov (enter "kids for conservation" in the search window).
