Oct. 20, 2009 Chandler’s Live Love Day this Saturday – 1,000 give their time CHANDLER, Ariz. – Approximately 1,000 volunteers will roll up their sleeves and take on various neighborhood beautification projects this Saturday, October 24, as part of Chandler’s Third Annual Live Love Day. Clean up efforts in several of the City’s older neighborhoods will include weatherizing projects, painting homes, planting flowers and shrubs, and making minor home repairs. In addition, volunteers will paint the Chandler Christian Center and assist with projects at the Kingston Public Housing site and the Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods facility. Educational materials will be available for residents regarding local service organizations, block watch programs and other community programs. Materials needed to complete the projects were donated by individuals and businesses and the Arizona Public Service Company and Salt River Project are providing residents with energy efficient light bulbs and information on how to save money on utility bills. Volunteers will gather a 7 a.m. for breakfast at the Trinity Christian Church at 50 S. McQueen Road. The event will conclude at 3:30 p.m. with an “After Party” at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts and feature performances by the Chandler and Gilbert Youth Choirs and Orchestra and the band “Safe Haven.” For more information, visit www.whatislivelove.com. |
