Museum offers guided walking tours of Historic Downtown Chandler

The Chandler Museum is offering free, hour-long guided walking tours of the historic downtown area on the first Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. The tours provide participants with a look back in time to the founding of Chandler around the town square in 1912 and through the decades to the restaurants, galleries and shops that occupy many of the same buildings in the modern downtown Chandler.

Upcoming dates include: November 4, 2009; December 2, 2009; January 6, 2010; and February 3, 2010. The tours are free, open to all ages and last approximately one hour. No registration is required.

All tour groups will meet 10 minutes prior to the start of the tour in front of the Starbucks at the San Marcos Resort, located at One San Marcos Place. Tour participants will also be able to enjoy the Downtown Chandler Art Walks, which are held the same nights from 5-9 p.m.

For more information, contact the Chandler Museum at 480-782-2717 or go to www.chandleraz.gov/history.
