Chandler “tweets;” Chick-Fil-A Crossroads answers:
Partnership to benefit City’s Acts of Kindness (A-OK) Program

Chandler, Ariz. – The City of Chandler and Chick-Fil-A Crossroads Towne Center will host a fundraising night on Wednesday, September 23, to benefit the City’s Acts of Kindness, or A-OK for short, Program.

This special event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Chick-Fil-A Crossroads Towne Center, 2900 E Germann Rd., in Chandler. A portion of sales from receipts collected during the three-hour event will be donated by Chick-Fil-A to the A-OK program. This is the first time a Chandler business has made a significant contribution to the fund.

Interestingly, the public-private partnership was sparked by the use of social media. The City sent a message on Twitter about the continued need for donations, and Chick-Fil-A staff noticed the “tweet” and asked how the company could help. The event also encourages residents to “Shop Chandler,” an initiative that reminds the community to spend their sales tax in the City.

Chandler established the A-OK Program in July 2000 to give residents an opportunity to voluntarily contribute extra funds with their utility payment each month. All contributions collected go back into the community through a grant process to support a variety of human service programs that provide basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, medical services and transportation to low-income Chandler residents.

For more information, call Kim Kaan, City of Chandler, at 480-782-2226, or Nichole Vance, Chick-Fil-A, at 480-812-1717.
