Growth Indicators
The Planning Division monitors various factors that act as growth indicators. Tracking past and current growth trends aid in projecting future growth trends.
The following growth indicators are tracked:
Permits Issued and Completed:
NOTE: Permits issued data is used to track construction activity. Whereas, residential permit completions (tracked as new Housing Units in the documents linked above) are used for the purpose of estimating the City's population. Residential permits are considered to be complete when they have passed final inspections and are ready for occupancy.
SF = Permits for New Single-Family Detached Construction (Const. Type 101)
MF = Permits for New Multi-Family Construction (Const. Types 104-106)

Series 1 = Permits for New Single-Family Detached Construction (Const. Type 101)
Series 2 = Permits for New Multi-Family Construction (Const. Types 102-106)

Chandler's municipal planning area, which includes county islands located within the city's ultimate boundaries, is 71.5 square miles.
