Stay Connected with the Chandler Public Library’s new app
Commentary by Councilmember Sam Huang

Libraries always have been known as a place for checking out books and conducting research. Chandler Public Libraries (CPL) continue to offer so much more year after year. In order to enhance customer service and better promote its resources, the CPL Mobile app was recently launched. This app connects library patrons to all available services and programs.

Users will be able to search for books, movies and other materials as well as due dates and placing items on hold. Through this app, digital content such as e-books, e-audio, digital magazines, music, movies and cloudLibrary can be accessed. The app also has the capability to scan barcodes printed on books and other materials that can be used to immediately search the Chandler Library database for availability. Information on all events and programs offered at the four Chandler library locations is available through the app, along with the capability of reserving study rooms.

Beyond reading books and watching movies, the Chandler Public Library has something for everyone. Tools for learning a new language, college preparation, writing resumes and preparing for interviews, along with access to reliable resources and early literacy programs, are all at one’s fingertips.

The free CPL app is available for download on Android and Apple devices at their respective app stores. Once launched, users will enter their library card number and PIN. The account information will be remembered, so it will not be necessary to login each time. Library resources can quickly be accessed anytime, from anywhere. To date, the app has been downloaded more than 800 times.  It is installed on my phone and it is very easy to use.

I am proud of the Chandler Public Library and the pride our employees have in providing the best learning and cultural experiences to residents. Staff continues to look outside traditional roles and is available to assist in finding the right resource or program to fit individual needs. The CPL app is another great tool for the community to connect with neighbors and the world.
